This is one of the most dramatic birds I have seen in a very long time. The tenuous and translucent cuts of the wing tips allow this piece to transcend in such a way that it is ready to lift off and fly.
It is masterfully balancing on a 15 degree angle. The movements, disposition and flare are paramount. The soft green stone is riveting in texture and finish.
There are numerous bird carvings from Kimirut to look at, but what makes one work stand out from the rest? In this case, it is the overall embodiment and finesse of the stone as well as the face of the bird. Specifically the eyes; they are absolutely riveting.
